The 8th National Veterinary Conference of Nepal Veterinary Association (NVA), Kathmandu has been conducted from 8-10 May, 2008 with the slogan of "Veterinarian in global trade and poverty alleviation". The conference was inaugurated by Hon. Speaker of House of Representatives Mr. Subash Chandra Nembang at BICC Hall, Kathmandu. The function was attended by more than 400 veterinarians, sceintists and deligates across the country and aborad. During the function, leading veterinarians, innovative farmers, co-operatives and organizations having their distinguished contibution in the field of livestock development of Nepal, were felicitated.
The evening session was highlighed with the theme papers on indsutrial sectors and problems and issues related to veterinary profession especially focusing on Bird Flu and its preventive strategies to not let it enter the country, was seriously discussed. The second day included technical session in which, more than 50 technical papers were presented and discussed. On the closing day, closed session was undertaken. Amendment of the Act, gerenral body discussion and formation of new executive committee was done. The closing program was attended by chief guest Dr. Jagadish Chandra Pokhrel, Vice president of National Planning Commission. At his presence, the recommendations and strategy of veterinary and livestock field was highlighted and presented aiming for incorporation in national planning strategy. The newly elected committee members of NVA for the two years tenure was formed in presidentship of Dr. Adarsh Pradhan, Dr. Narayan Pd. Ghimire (Vice- President), Dr. Subir Singh (General Secretary), Dr. Yadav Sharma Bajagai (Secretary), Dr. Rima Devi Shrestha (Treasurer), Dr. Dinesh Gautam (Central Member), Dr. Umesh Dahal (Central Member), Dr. Kashi Nath Yadav (Eastern Regional Coordinator), Dr. Surendra Karki (Central Regional Coordinator), Dr. Shiva Pd. Devkota (Western Regional Coordinator), Dr. Bishnu Pd. Dhital (Mid-western Regional Coordinator), Dr. Dikkar Dev Bhatta (Far-western Regional Coordinator) and Dr. Vijay Chandra Jha (Chief Editor). worldvet.org |
