Impact of grazing cattle on distribution of soil minerals
Grazing cattle redistribute soil minerals unevenly throughout a pasture, since livestock tend to concentrate (and
defecate) in shady areas or around the water source. Placement of water troughs and shade can minimize the
development of single-direction nutrient gradients in pastures. Missouri Grazing Manual. University of Missouri, Forage Systems Research Center. (Grazing Reference Materials Manual.
